Murambi Genocide Memorial

We stopped at the Murambi Genocide memorial. A very difficult but necessary stop. Eric, our tour guide, gave us a very touching tour and shared his own personal story.

The memorial was to be a technical school and was strategically located on a hill surrounded by larger hills. They told the Tutsis to gather at the school where they would be safe. In April 1994 over 50,000 people were brutally killed. The memorial is a touching rememberance of this horrific part of the Genocide.

Walking the grounds and seeing the classrooms where remains are kept ... very moving.

Clothes that were kept after the bodies were exhumed and properly buried.

We must never forget.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. (I John 4:7 NKJV)
